Motherhood is a journey as unique as you are, so it can often feel like you're doing it alone. Here at Colored Organics, we love to unite you together, even if it's only virtually, to share some wisdom and camaraderie on the rollercoaster journey of parenting. We are so excited to share some motherhood insights from Minnesota-based mama, Lee!

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!

Hi! I am Lee Funke, mama of Gus and founder of @FitFoodieFinds and @thecheeseknees_. I run my business with my two best friends and just had a baby in October of 2022. I live in Saint Louis Park, MN with my husband Mark, Gus, and our bernedoodle Jasper! I like to refer to myself as an OG influencer because I’ve been blogging since the prehistoric ages of 2010 (before Instagram was a thing!).

WHAT'S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF BEING A PARENT?

I love watching all of the little developmental milestones Gus reaches. He just learned how to wave and seeing him so proud makes me so happy!

WHAT IS THE MOST SURPRISING THING ABOUT PARENTHOOD?

Gus has brought a newfound life to the relationship I have with my husband. I was terrified that having a kid was going to change our relationship in a more challenging way, but it’s only made it better! We’re both living for the same thing. Gus has brought so much love, joy, and laughter to our family that I didn’t think was possible.

WHAT DOES SELF-CARE LOOK LIKE TO YOU?

I am a sucker for a good massage mostly because no phones are allowed and I carry a lot of stress in my upper back and shoulders.

WHAT CHORE WOULD YOU FOREVER OUTSOURCE?

Selfishly I’ve already outsourced laundry to my husband :P

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF COLORED ORGANICS?

I love that Colored Organics is female-founded and owned. It’s incredibly empowering to see other mamas starting and growing successful businesses, especially one so close to home in Minneapolis.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO AN EXPECTING MAMA?

Have an open heart and mind about motherhood. Everyone’s experience is wildly different and you just don’t know what yours is going to be like until you’re in it!
